What we built together
The purpose of the De La Salle Catholic College construction project was to provide modern school facilities with technological upgrades that will ensure De La Salle Catholic College will be able to deliver a high-level education experience to its students. This included refurbishment of an existing hall into two classrooms and a drama room and construction of a new multi-purpose hall and associated external works.
Challenges
- Encountering 2500 m3 of asbestos soil and developing subsequent strategies that adhere to W, H & S, communication and budget requirements in the management of the contamination
- Working within a live and operational school environment
- Review and redesign of External facades in order to comply with updated statutory requirements
- Further issues with existing in-ground services
- Management of cautious and resistant stakeholders
Outcome
Officially opened by the Prime Minister of Australia and Archbishop of Sydney. The Principal of the college stated that this was the smoothest project he had ever been involved in.
